I am Akhila and this is my blog where I unveil my love for cooking to the world of internet.
I belong to Kerala which is a state in South India, famously known as God’s Own Country; and is also a big producer of Indian Spices and many natural cooking ingredients. I am a self-taught cook and presently reside at Missouri, US and its here I found my passion to blog, and experiment my culinary skills and food styling.
I come from a family where we cook only our traditional Kerala dishes. Being a lazy girl by nature I never allowed myself to venture into the kitchen nor hand a help to my mother. So to be frank, my real passion for cooking started after I got married to my lovely husband Praveen, who also manages the technical side of Pepper Delight, the official taster to all my recipes, and a foodie.
Food n Food photography
I love to cook both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, Indian and Global cuisines, and experiment with whatever I get my hand on, including the left overs in my kitchen. I recently started baking, so more experiments with baking are still on my list.
Recipes : The recipes which I present here in Pepper Delight highlight my experiences both in US and India, through my various dine outs at restaurants, watching cooking shows, and articles I read through. All the recipes in Pepper Delight have been cooked by me at home, tasted and approved by my family and friends.
Photography: I am self-taught in food photography and still consider myself as a novice. All the photographs showcased in Pepper Delight have been taken by me and my husband. We use a Nikon D5500 with a 35mm f/1.8 and 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses for all the pictures. All the photos are taken in natural light.
